Description

An air pump is attached to the top of a mercury channel in a mercury sphygmomanometer through a tube, and the pump is triggered when a lid is closed. As a result, after the mercury has been ejected from the mercury passage, the valve can be closed to stop communication between the mercury passage and the mercury reservoir. The mercury left in the mercury passage can then be returned to the mercury reservoir using the air pump, which is activated in response to a cover closing operation.
